I began studying light and how it worked in digital images. I was rewatching my favorite movies to study the mood of the film and how things like sound and camera position mattered to convey various feelings.
Although most of my photos from this period were also lost in another drive failure around 2013 (externals back then were terrible), some survived from my backup computer that had an SD card on it. There were some portrait experiments from this year that were lost, along with some great memories from one of my first companies, Ill Dialect™. I started thinking about ways to do portraits around this time and began to experiment. One of the big takeaways from this year was how much time it took to produce digital content and achieve consitency. That was one of the big lessons I learned from working with music. You don't realize how much time that takes until you observe the process firsthand.
